Efficiency Manitoba Indigenous Small Business Program Request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ)

The RRMBA would like to share the following opportunity on behalf of Efficiency Manitoba.

A request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ) has been issued on MERX to identify and pre-qualify Contractors to support the Indigenous Small Business Program at Efficiency Manitoba.

Efficiency Manitoba's Indigenous Small Business Program provides free energy-efficient upgrades for eligible First Nation and Red River Métis Small Businesses. Below is a summary of the eligibility criteria and available upgrades:

A business must:

  • Be a First Nation business (on or off reserve) where the band or a band member pays the utility bill at a commercial rate.
  • Or be a Red River Métis-owned business where the owner pays the utility bill at a commercial rate.
  • Not be part of a national franchise or chain and have ten or fewer locations in Manitoba.
  • Be under 15,000 sq. ft.
  • First Nation business owners need to provide Status Card for verification
  • Red River Métis businesses must be pre-approved and registered with the Louis Riel Capital Corporation.

Phase 1 - Free Upgrades (if eligible)

  • A-line LED bulbs
  • Faucet aerators
  • Pre-rinse spray valves
  • Same-day assessment for further upgrades

Phase 2 - Enhanced Free Upgrades (if eligible)

  • LED linear lamps
  • Specialty LED bulbs
  • LED exit signs
  • Smart thermostats
  • Lighting controls
  • Pitched roof insulation

Efficiency Manitoba covers 100% of the cost, including materials and installation, and prioritizes working with local labour.
